What are we really missing these days?
We are constantly being invited into a state of frenzy.
Be it of financial insecurity, political turmoil or the world at war. Everywhere we look we see reasons to panic. We are made to feel that if we are not stressed out it means we are not being empathetic enough- or have our heads buried in the sand.
Yet there is a more striking human dilemma. We have lost our greater sense of human connection.
In order to make it through a modern day pandemic era it was demanded that we separate from one another. In order to protect our bodies during the global health crisis, we had to bunker down- and remained alone for years.
Social media became our lifeline to the outside world, and let’s be real, there is rarely anything real being shared. We began to know each other as caricatures-as filtered photos, and drunken tweets. Then on the other side of the spectrum our COVID quarantine partners bared the responsibility of being with us day in and day out. Our husbands, wives, roommates and kids were with us 24/7.
Yes, it could be lovely- a majority of the time. Yet with no break from one another many unaddressed issues could start to surface. There was no escape.
Now, we are in a new phase. A place none of us ever imagined we would be in this lifetime.
The last couple years have seen us trying to acclimate back into society… A world where we are all now both more aware of our emotions than ever before, yet simultaneously don’t know how to communicate them. We want human connection but there is a lingering fear surrounding being around one another, and the relationships at home may still have strains that have yet to be addressed.
