Many of us equate equinox with a Spring Cleaning, usually referring to a deep de-cluttering and cleaning of the home. As you prepare to clean out your closets, or wash your windows, consider other areas of your life that could use a cleaning. Let your intuition guide you on what old energies you may need to release and then set some intentions.
We are all made of energy and we walk through our days bombarded with the energies of others in the form of emotions, thoughts and opinions. Without attention and care to our energy bodies, it is easy to absorb the energies of others without even knowing it. Most of us are not well educated on energy maintenance such as clearing and protecting, leaving us feeling drained. This is especially true for people who are extremely sensitive or identify as empaths.
Spring Equinox is a wonderful time to set the intention to regularly clear your energies. Work on developing your intuition to spot negative energy from people around you. What is negative energy? What is evil? Every action result in duality. Something good to you might be offensive or evil to someone else. It’s important to develop awareness of your own energy and strategies to combat against unwanted energies from tarnishing your spirit. Sit quietly and imagine yourself surrounded by a white protective light. Send love and gratitude into the world and release any anger or resentment from your heart. If you’ve had a particularly intense energetic experience with someone, consider smudging with sage and taking a warm salt bath.
There are many ways to clear negative energy, take the time to find what resonates with your own belief system. Make sure it is something you can do regularly. Once you have learned some clearing techniques that work for you, focus on containing and protecting your own energies so you do not end up feeling depleted again. Practice setting boundaries in all aspects of life and find a meditative or contemplative practice to keep yourself aligned. Spring Cleaning will only last a season, but energetic cleansing and protecting can last a lifetime!
