When I notice this happen for clients, I explore group therapy as an option.
Retrain Your Brain is an invaluable group that teaches basic life skills the general population may never learn. Typically a program of this nature runs six months in length, but I have streamlined the group to last eight (8) weeks. During these weeks, there are 4 life skill areas covered, including coping techniques, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness and emotional regulation. Each member of the group is able to adapt the skills taught to their own lives.
If you could benefit from having better boundaries, being more assertive, and feeling more even keel, then this group is for you. It is my belief that successful graduates of this group have increased self-esteem, increased abundance in friendships, assertiveness development, thriving relationships, healthy coping skills and regulation of emotions.
